We are seeking to employ a Duty Manager to manage and oversee the day to day shift activity of staff and machines in the log marshalling operations at Gisborne Port. This is a very hands-on role, reports to the Port Manager, and is often based at the coal face of the operations.
Responsibilities:
- Strong focus on Health and Safety performance in all operations
- Provide leadership and guidance to staff while striving to build a strong team environment
- Take a proactive role in developing robust customer relationships
- Efficient and effective allocation of machinery
- Identify and facilitate training requirements for staff
- Day to day management of resources so as to meet agreed KPI’s.
Key skills and attributes required for this role:
- Natural leader with multi-operational coordination of resources
- Good computers skills with moderate excel capabilities
- Practical thinker and ability to change plans relative to situational demands
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organisational skills
